Best Experience

My best experience while being a student occurred while I was living in Mesa, Arizona going to a community college there. I lived alone, and had been talking about getting a pet for basically the entire semester, but never acted on it. This was until late October, when I had just recently endured a pretty bad sports injury which basically ended my season. I decided that going to look at the animals at the shelter would cheer me up. So, after my classes on a day I had off of work, I headed into my town's local animal shelter.
I was initially interested in getting a cat, because of their lower maintenance due to the limited time I had with school, soccer and work. I asked the front desk where the kittens and cats would be. They said there were a very limited number of cats there, because most of them were at the other shelter, but they directed me to the room they would be in. I walked around the room, and as I turned right to the other half of the room, The CUTEST little puppy was looking at me! He was so small, and tan, and an absolute ball of energy. I stuck my finger in the kennel as he began to aggressively lick me and started jumping all over the place.
I fell in love with him. Like there was no way I was going to leave the shelter that day without him. I asked one of the volunteers if I could take him out to play with him. We went into a little outdoor kennel with grass and toys. He was a lil shy guy, but I knew it was just because he was nervous from being in a shelter. I am a pretty quick decision maker, and this just felt like it was meant to be. I decided to adopt him.
Fast forward a year and a half later, Clifford is the best dog I could ever ask for. We have been through so much together, with so many memories, cuddles, walks and playtimes. He is a little wrinkly guy with so much personality and energy. I can't imagine not having him through my college experience. No matter how the day goes, I can always count on him to greet me and still lick me over and over again, just like the day I saw him in the kennel. I can't wait to share more memories with him and give him the best life everrrrr. <3
